Inaugural Group Show: MELT

MELT brought together over 30 artists in a compelling exploration of materiality, tension, and form. The show was widely praised for its thoughtful interrogation of how objects move between the realms of art and design. Gustavo Barroso, who has since shown work with Objective Gallery and collaborated with KidSuper and Louis Vuitton, contributed his Pink Slime Side Table, which embodied a striking tension between organic fluidity and structural control as its flowing, amorphous shape invited both curiosity and contemplation. Apprentice to Misha Kahn, Michal Cihlar contributed the Pleated Chair, introducing a sense of fragility, with its delicate folds reminiscent of architectural studies, challenging perceptions of durability and permanence while still holding the weight of its function.

Throughout the exhibition, a palpable sense of movement was present in the works, both in their physical forms and conceptual narratives. Nicholas Devlin, whose designs have since been featured at the Collectible Design Fair NY (2024) and Objective Gallery (2022), contributed the Two-headed Lamp Side Table, introducing an element of playful disruption through surrealist twists that evoked a quiet dynamism within the space. Each piece operated within a carefully orchestrated flow, guiding the viewer through a nuanced exploration of transformation, balance, and the dialogue between fragility and strength. The exhibition’s success lay in how these pieces engaged in a continuous conversation about the boundaries between everyday forms and their artistic reimaginings, resulting in a layered, reflective experience that resonated on both sensory and intellectual levels.
